Gene therapy is now widely seen as an emerging alternative for many last-ditch efforts used in the medical field to help mediate a patient's well-being. This review focuses on novel gene therapy products, whereas the functional medical operations are still discussed. With more than 20 products approved in over 2000 clinical trials, novel gene therapy agents work towards curing or stabilizing monogenic disorders for rare, inherited, and incurable diseases. Investigation of the latest advancements in gene delivery techniques and effectiveness of therapeutic genes used, as well as the challenges and limitations faced are inspected. For this, the clinical data accessible and the therapeutic potential of the products is of utmost importance.
